the who and the why

I am Edward Boyle. I am a multi disciplinary artist, focusing on image creation. This is a collection of some personal photographic work. I have an eye for nature, simple compositions, and rich textures which I display through these photographs. Over the past decade, I have developed my skills to produce the body of work curated here.

I wish to continue celebrating life through producing art of any scale.

Artist statement

Nature and humans are often described as being separate in our society. My photography explores dualism and seeing the connection between exterior and interior worlds. These images are quiet and reflective, celebrating natural light, texture, and the magnificent world we are a part of. Utilizing black and white film photography, these images are a tangible meditation on the beauty of life and impermanence. I will continue to make art wherever I am, rooting myself in the ever changing present with photography.

concept

When I was gifted my first camera, I knew very little, and I had a lot of fun. I try to stay true to this, by keeping the work of making compositions simple, playful, and full of expression.

I have lived my life so far treating what I create as a hobby, and I have come to realize that it is much more than that. Art is an extension of consciousness, and a physical attempt to share individual perspective. In this sense, I try to let the photos that I make speak for themselves.

I like to make environmental, portrait, and texture focused images.

35mm and 120 film photography are my preferred mediums in making images. Otherwise, I am doodling and writing to express myself.
